PROFILE OF ZHU NAIZHENG
Currently living in Beijing with his wife, An Yuying, Zhu Naizheng is an internationally known versatile artist who is famous for his innovative oil paintings in which he incorporates Chinese art into western art. Zhu* is also lauded by art reviewers for his Chinese ink and wash, his calligraphy, and his other impressive talent -- poetry composition -- which he sometimes combines with his art.
Born in l935, Zhu studied at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts from 1953 to 1957 and took a twenty-one year exile-like life from his art in west China in which period he honed his skills and talents to be able to burst upon the center stage of the art world in 1980. Ever since he has been an art professor and administrator, a much sought-after exhibitor and consultant, a prolific essay writer, and a shining example for many artists of later generations.
* "Zhu" is the artist's surname. In the English culture the last name is the inherited or surname, and the first name is the personal or given name. In China the naming is the opposite.
